· Arts for Health, Thursday 2 April at 5.00 pm. Online Launch of: The Sea, Is grá geal mo chroí, 4mins 20 sec. The Sea, Is grá geal mo chroí was a three-month project with residents of Clonakilty Community Hospital, filmmaker Aoise Tutty Jackson and artist Sarah Ruttle that began in autumn 2019. The film was first screened at the hospital on 26 February 2020. This project, delivered as part of the Arts for Health Partnership Programme, was a complex collaboration between the artists and participants, where the artists endeavoured to include the participants’ hand and voice in every aspect of the decision-making process throughout the development of the work. The resulting film is a poetic reflection on life on the West Cork coast - adventure, neutrality, caution and fear - as remembered by the residents of Clonakilty Community Hospital. CREDITS: Residents of Clonakility Community Hospital working with Aoise Tutty Jackson and Sarah Ruttle. Editor - Aoise Tutty Jackson. Music - Fiona Kelleher
· We have three Arts for Health programmes that aim to maintain our connection with participants, staff and artists at Castletownbere, Dunmanway, Skibbereen and Schull Community Hospitals.
· In the Music Room is a three part pre-recorded music session with composer Justin Grounds exploring Melody, Harmony and Rhythm.
· Museum of Song Postal Project: This comprises a beautifully-made parcel which includes an introductory letter from artists Tess Leak and Sharon Whooley, song lyrics which are meaningful to the participants, a creative invitation to share significant lyrics, a poem about the art of singing created as part of the Arts for Health programme and a stamped addressed envelope to facilitate a reply. Skype sessions will take place where possible and a web page storying the progress and phone calls from the artists will all form part of the project. Key to the project is a short, live performance of a ‘Song of Resilience' sung by opera singer Camilla Griehsel from outside the healthcare setting (when and where possible), inspired by the singers on the balconies in the shutdown cities of Italy.
· Starling Song goes Skype: skyped, interactive, live sessions delivered by our favourite singer-songwriter Liz Clark to a large screen near you! Composer and musician Justin Grounds and musician Fiona Kelleher are at the ready also.
· Arts for Health Playlist: an online space for all our video content. Here you will find a short workshop prepared by Michael Greenlaw for Bantry.
· Committed to Falling. 29 February to 4 April. Gabhann Dunne's painting installation comprises almost one hundred small oil paintings of migratory birds that are known to visit Ireland, accompanied by a new series of panels depicting extinct or non-native but naturalised plant species found in West Cork. Take a walk through the gallery with us here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l67fsvd0_lk Further information on Gabhann’s exhibition at Uillinn here: https://www.westcorkartscentre.com/committed-to-falling
· Land Walks Land Talks Land Marks - William Bock. 29 February to 4 April. Conceiving of land as 'a latent archive of silent histories' (Uriel Urlow, Theatrum Bontanicum), William Bock's Land Walks Land Talks Land Marks explores how the natural environment might become a space to unearth stories about identity, belonging and migration. An exhibition which encompasses three distinct yet interconnected parts, it comprises visual artworks, a public forum of conversations and engagements, and a series of sound walks produced by the artist in collaboration with asylum seekers and local residents.
