Disability Training Results - Maeve Kelleher

In early 2021, Cork City Arts Office Arts invited applications for training places in an online Disability and Cultural Management course delivered by Accesso Cultura in Portugal. These places were supported by Arts for All through the Cork City Council Covid Resilience Fund.

Places on this course were allocated to practitioners who will integrate their learning into their practices, both freelance and within organisations. Some of the participants also produced response pieces that will be shared by Arts for All over the next number of months to support the development of inclusive practices and policies in the arts sector in Cork City.

Today we are delighted to share Maeve Kelleher’s Reflective Outcome, ‘Will.I.Can’. This output is based around conversations she had with dancer, actor and wheelchair user William O’Donovan. The piece gives a detailed insight into the regular barriers met by William in his attempts to engage with his passion for dancing and acting and highlights that we can do better by listening and learning how to improve the accessibility of events and venues.
